CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — Surprising Canajoharie broke a tie late in the second half
Wednesday and defeated Mekeel Christian Academy’s previously unbeaten Lions 3-2.
The Cougars (4-7-0) won their third consecutive match after losing seven of their first eight. Michael Mazzarella’s deciding goal came in the 77th minute of play. Zach Bowerman had scored earlier for Canajoharie and assisted on a goal scored by Taylor Fleig.
Kenny Aderounmu scored both goals for Mekeel Christian (8-1-0).
The Lions had a 23-11 shot advantage and Chris Deyette responded with 18 saves for the Cougars.
Canajoharie plays at Berne-Knox-Westerlo Friday.
NORTHVILLE 6, ST. JOHNSVILLE 0
NORTHVILLE, N.Y. — Brad VanNostrand and Tyler Henderson each scored a pair of goals for Northville Wednesday in the Falcons’ 6-0 win over the St. Johnsville Saints.
Tim Monette made two saves for the Falcons who led 3-0 at halftime. Keather Brooker and Lincoln Cramer each scored a goal while VanNostrand and Henderson both had assists to go with their goals.
Rickey Jasewicz made eight saves and Nate Trumble had six for St. Johnsville.
The Saints play at home Friday at 6 p.m. as the first half of a doubleheader against Schoharie.
RICHFIELD SPRINGS 4, WORCESTER 0
WORCESTER, N.Y. — Joe Kelly scored two goals Wednesday and assisted on two others in the Richfield Springs Indians’ 4-0 win over Worcester.
Josh Young scored the other two Richfield Springs goals, both off Kelly assists. The Indians (2-6-1) led 2-0 at halftime. Ben Smith made two saves in the shutout.
Riley Powers had seven saves for Worcester (0-11-1).
