ORISKANY 53, POLAND 32

The perfect run for Oriskany’s Redskins continued Tuesday with a third win over the Poland Tornadoes.

Oriskany, undefeated, seeded first for Section III’s Class D playoffs and ranked fifth in the state, rolled to a 53-32 win as it opened defense of the sectional title it won last year. The Redskins (19-0) opened the game with a 13-2 run at home and led 26-6 at halftime.

The Redskins had previously beaten Poland 62-49 at home in January and 59-37 on the road earlier this month.

Christina Graziadei had 19 points and eight rebounds to lead Oriskany while Jordan Sahl added 14 and eight with three steals. Shannon VanShufflin scored six points and contributed nine assists.

Kara Morrison scored all six Poland points in the first half and led the Tornadoes (9-11) with 19 points. Paige Sullivan added 10 points.

The Class D semifinals will be played Sunday at Onondaga Community College’s Allyn Hall. Oriskany awaits the winner of a game Wednesday between Cincinnatus and Sackets Harbor. Two other quarterfinals Wednesday will set the contestants for the other semifinal — Hamilton plays at New York Mills and  Alexandria Bay visits Copenhagen.
