A pair of Dolgeville Blue Devils have been selected as alternates for next weekend’s NYSPHSAA championship meet.

The list of 123 at-large bids was released Friday night and Blue Devils Noah Handy and Kasey Foster were among the alternates picked from Section III along with Mt. Markham senior Mackenzie Dorie.

The at-large bids help fill the brackets for the 15 weight classes in divisions I and II. Three alternates are selected for each class to back up the field of 16.

Handy and Foster will join teammate Danny Fox at Albany’s Times Union Center for the tournament which begins Friday. Fox, a sophomore won Section III’s Division II championship at 106 pounds last week in Syracuse. Handy, a freshman, placed third at 99 pounds and Foster, a sophomore, was third at 182. Handy is the first alternate for the 99-pound class while Foster is the second alternate at 182.

Dorie, a senior, placed third in the section at 285 pounds and earned the second alternate spot for the state meet.

The three area alternates join Ilion 126-pounder Laken Cook, Fox and five other Center State Conference sectional champions in the lineup in Albany. Holland Patent’s Alex Herringshaw (132 pounds), Todd Stevens (138) and Josh Langley (220), Canastota’s Conner Russ (132) and Wyatt Albanese (195), Adirondack Wildcats Ryan O’Rourke (106) and Tyler Spann (152), Camden’s Tom Confer (160), Morrisville-Eaton’s Wyatt Morris (285), New Hartford’s Dempsey King (113), Oneida’s Matt Fisher (160) and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s Kasey Proper (138) also received at-large bids from the CSC; the three Holland Patent wrestlers, both Adirondack Wildcats, Albanese, Confer, Morris, Fisher and Proper are in their respective fields of 16 while the others are alternates.

Holland Patent’s Hunter Richard (113 pounds), Adirondack’s Derek Spann (99), Cooperstown’s Mikey Boyle (120), Canastota’s Zach Zupan (182) and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s Lane Frost (195) were the other Center State Conference sectional champions.
