SAUQUOIT VALLEY 48, MT. MARKHAM 33
The rubber match between neighbors Sauquoit Valley and Mt. Markham went to Sauquoit Valley’s Indians Friday.
The Indians defeated Mt. Markham’s Mustangs 48-33 in the first round of Section III’s Class C-1 playoffs and advanced to meet Tully in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.
Sauquoit Valley (10-9) and Mt. Markham (5-14) had split two decisions during the regular season with each team winning on its home court in Center State Conference Division III play. Sauquoit Valley was home again Friday as the seventh seed against No. 10 Mt. Markham.
Alec Voce led the Indians with 12 points. Kyle Jones had seven points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots while Collin Jackson added nine points and Brady Murphy scored seven.
Tyler Ostrander scored nine points and Travis Nelson had eight for the Mustangs who were held to 22 points through the first three quarters.
