Hartwick College forward Jared Suderley was named the Empire 8 Player of the Week for his efforts in the Hawks’ two wins over the weekend. This is the second player of the week award this year for the sophomore from Newport.
Suderley averaged 24.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and hit 70 percent of his shots as Hartwick (22-2) won two road games to clinch a share of the league’s regular season title. He made 11-of-12 attempts from the free-throw line. He scored 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting in leading the Hawks to an 83-65 victory over Nazareth College Friday. The next day against St. John Fisher College, Suderley shot 9-for-12 and scored 24 points.
Suderley leads the team in scoring with an average of 18.2 points per game and is second in the Empire 8 in that category. He is also averaging 8.2 rebounds per game which ranks second on the team and seventh in the conference. His free throw conversion rate of 85.9 percent is tops in the Empire 8 and his field-goal percentage of .543 ranks fifth.
The Hawks will host Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday at 4 p.m.
