For the second time, the Amsterdam Mohawks have arranged for New York Mets and Yankees pitcher Dwight Gooden to serve as the keynote speaker at their annual Amsterdam Baseball/Mohawks Baseball Hall of Fame Dinner.

Gooden was previously announced as the featured guest at 2011 hot stove events for both the Mohawks and the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs but was replaced at the lectern by former teammate and current Mets announcer Ron Darling.

Gooden, the 1985 National League Cy Young award winner who started two game for the 1982 Little Falls Mets during his climb to the Major Leagues, will speak at the Feb. 2 event at St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam. The sixth annual event will also feature the Mohawks’ hall of fame induction ceremony; the 2013 honorees will be announced at a later date.

Tickets to the event are available for $45 and include dinner. Tables of 10 cost $400 and tables of eight are available for $320. General admission tickets cost $25 and do not include dinner.

Gooden will be available to sign autographs during a cocktail hour prior to event.
For tickets or sponsorship opportunities which include VIP time with Gooden, contact the Mohawks by calling (518) 320-4868 or by email at dan@amsterdammohawks.com.

Plans for the DiamondDawgs’ annual hot stove dinner have yet to be announced.
