MORRISVILLE-EATON 4, LITTLE FALLS 1

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The Morrisville-Eaton Warriors won two of the three matches that went to three sets Wednesday and defeated Little Falls 4-1 at the Veterans Memorial Park courts.

A three-set victory by No. 1 singles player Ron Fox was the lone win for the Mounties. Henry Bataille, Morrisville-Eaton’s No. 3 singles player, and Rick Widger and Jim Martin, the Warriors’ No. 2 doubles team, took three set matches for their squads.

Fox defeated Alex Myers 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Bataille was a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 winner against Mike Marosek and the Widger/Martin team beat Tony Federico and Alan Sadlon in a third-set tie-breaker to claim its 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) victory.

Sean Harrigan was a 6-1, 6-2 winner in singles play against Mountie Dylan Krowicki. Warriors Ben and Tyler Banker beat Alex Vincent and Jerome Foster 6-0, 6-0 in doubles play.

The Mounties head to Utica Friday and Saturday to compete in the Center State Conference tournament at the John Mott Parkway Tennis Center. The league shifted to a single tournament for all of its teams this year instead of playing two divisional tournaments as in the past. The early rounds of tournament play will be contested Friday with the semifinalists returning to play the final two rounds Saturday.
