WESTMORELAND 3, ILION 2
The Ilion Golden Bombers won two of Thursday’s three singles matches bur the Westmoreland Bulldogs swept doubles play to claim a 3-2 victory.
Kelly North and Kacey Visser were winners at first and third singles, respectively, for the Golden Bombers (0-2). North defeated Lindsay Cornacchia 6-1, 6-1 while Visser was a 6-4, 6-0 winner in her match against Olivia Merrill.
Jill Crane won the No. 2 singles match and the team of Kia Barber and Blake Crandall won at second doubles for the Bulldogs (3-0), both in straight sets. Gabrielle Duell and Alyssa Bowers, the No. 1 Westmoreland doubles team, won a 9-7 tie-breaker in the first set against DaniLynn Engert and Hayley Metz then won the second set 6-1 for a 2-0 victory.
The Golden Bombers had another match at home Friday against Canastota.
