COXSACKIE-ATHENS 3, WESTMORELAND 1

COBLESKILL, N.Y. — Section II champion Coxsackie-Athens spoiled the Westmoreland Bulldogs’ bid for a second Class C/D regional championship Saturday with a 3-1 win at Cobleskill-Richmondville High School.

Coxsackie-Athens defeated the Section II champions by scores of 25-22, 28-26, 18-25 and 25-20.

Tyler Matteson had 13 assists, 10 kills and two blocks for Westmoreland; Ryan Bellinger had eight kills and three blocks; Neal Baron had six kills and six blocks; and Brandon Jones had 12 assists.

Justin Pruiksma had 22 kills, three blocks and 13 digs for Coxsackie-Athens; Craig Huther had 16 kills and seven blocks; Jeff Brockett had 39 assists; and Justin Pacuk served two aces.

SYRACUSE-LIVING WORD ACADEMY 3, CAIRO-DURHAM 1

COBLESKILL, N.Y. — Syracuse’s Living Word Academy Lions of Judah capped their first season of Class B competition with a 3-1 win over Cairo-Durham and a regional championship.

The Lions of Judah, champions of Section III, defeated their counterparts from Section II by scores of 25-8, 25-12, 13-25 and 25-21.

David Mazur had 18 kills and two blocks for Living Word Academy; Ethan Irish had 31 assists and five kills; Isaac Virag had nine kills and two aces; and Deng Gai had six blocks and four kills.
