Mini Park Holiday Lighting
Dec 10, 2012 @ 05:10 AM
Temperatures were on the frigid side, but anticipation was high Thursday evening as children and adults, musicians and organizers gathered at the corner of Smith and William streets in Herkimer for the annual lighting of the Mini Park. A color guard from the Herkimer VFW presented the flag for the Festival of Lights, while the Herkimer High School Band played the National Anthem and Herkimer County Community College President Ann Marie Murray welcomed all who turned out for the occasion. HCCC students participate in activities throughout the year to support the park including fundraisers and a park clean-up day and helping Mini Park organizer Anthony Baggetta prepare the lighted figures for the season. The high school band and choir took turns offering holiday selections Thursday. A fire truck delivered Santa Claus to the mini park to visit with the children. A reception was held at the Herkimer Area Resource Center Valley Commons, 344 S. Main St., following the program at the Mini Park.
