Leola M. Marino, 99, of Oak Mt. Drive, Stratford, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, where she had been a resident since June of 2009.
She was born on February 7, 1910, in Newport, NY, the daughter of the late Grove and Mabel (Lindsay) Morey. She was educated in Newport Schools.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 64 years, Joseph Marino, in 1937. He predeceased her on June 13, 2001.
Mrs. Marino was a homemaker and worked as a domestic in homes and businesses in the Smyrna, NY, area as well as assisting her husband in the operation of their business, Marino’s Restaurant, in Smyrna for 42 years until their retirement. She had resided in Smyrna most of her life, moving to Little Falls to reside with her brother, Dean, in 2001, until his passing in 2008, when she relocated to the home of her niece, Mardean Euron, in Stratford.
She was an avid horse rider for many years and enjoyed tending to their care.
She is survived by her foster daughter, Bonnie Marston Noble and her husband, Robert, Verona; two nieces, Mardean Euron and her husband, Fred, Stratford, and Dawn Pinkley and her husband, John, Fredericktown, MO; Bonnie and Bob’s children, Jennifer Noble and Christopher Noble, who were her only grandchildren; and several grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth Morey, in 1991, and Dean L. Morey, in 2008, and by her sister, Doris Maxwell, in 1989.
Graveside services will be held in the spring in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, NY.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
