Elizabeth (Betty) Bugaj, 76, of Herkimer, and a former longtime Little Falls resident, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Folts Homes, Herkimer, with her loving family by her side.
She was born April 25, 1936, in New York City, the daughter of the late Stephen Kovac and Susanna (Zguris) Walach, and was a graduate of West Canada Valley School, class of 1954.
For many years, Betty worked for the Little Falls school system.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Bugaj, of Clifton Park, and Rebecca Fredericks and husband, Dale, of Little Falls; her son, Brett Bugaj, of Little Falls; two brothers, Paul Walach, of Brooksville, Fla., and Stephen Kovac, of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; two sisters, Ann Pargansky, of Herkimer, and Mildred Walach, of Ilion; her beloved grandchildren, Brianna Lee Crews, of Little Falls, and Cole Zygmunt Fredericks, of Little Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving son, Zygmunt (Zyggy) Bugaj, in 1992; and a brother, John Kovac.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, a memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. from the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph, Herkimer, with Reverend Thomas Lawless officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. There are no calling hours. The family has entrusted all funeral arrangements to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY 13350, 866-1500. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
