James F. (Jim) O'Hara, age 69, a longtime Little Falls resident, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012, at Alpine Nursing Facility.
Jim was born on April 25, 1943, in Little Falls, the son of the late Frank and Julia (Keefe) O'Hara. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy. James then joined the United States Navy in 1963, attending basic training at Great Lakes Naval Center, and was awarded Sailor of the Year. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 1, 1966. Jim was employed for several years in the area as a construction foreman. He had a great admiration for dogs and enjoyed receiving cards from his family and friends.
He is survived by a sister, Ann O'Hara Merrick, of Lynn, Mass., and her two children. He is also survived by several cousins.
Jim was predeceased by a daughter, April O'Hara.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls (823-2424). Friends and relatives may attend a Memorial Mass in Jim's honor on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, corner of John and East Main streets, Little Falls, celebrated by Reverend Thomas Lawless, pastor. Procession will then follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
In lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy may be made to Holy Family Parish. Envelopes will be available at the church.
The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, funeral director.
