Phyllis J. (Nichols) Miller, 81, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Dolgeville on September 28, 1931, the daughter of the late Howard and Viola (Perry) Nichols. She was a graduate of Dolgeville Central School and then from the Utica School of Beauty Culture in 1952. At one time, she and her sisters operated a beauty salon on Main Street in Dolgeville. Phyllis later ran a beauty shop from her home for many years.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Austin (Tiny) Miller on November 14, 1953. They shared a loving bond for greater than 58 years until Tiny's passing on June 28, 2012. She was an adored and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Phyllis was a gentle, selfless and caring soul who enjoyed time spent with family and friends above all else. She especially enjoyed spending time at her camp on Pleasant Lake and truly felt at peace there. She was a woman of great faith and was a member of the Dolgeville Methodist Church.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved son, Craig Miller, of Spruce Lake; cherished granddaughters, Ashley and Makayla Miller, of Herkimer; devoted nieces, Denise (Roger) Bowers, of Arizona, Beth (John) Rowe, of Little Falls, and Barbara (Dave) Atkinson, of Florida; special nephews; and close "Perry" cousins. She was fortunate to have many wonderful friends in her life whose friendships she held so dear. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Beverly Lyon and Karen Delaney; her mother and father-in-law, Austin and Pearl Miller; and many loved ones from her Nichols and Perry families.

In keeping with Phyllis’ wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY, 518-568-7040.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the following people for their kindness and compassion beyond measure: Dr. Douglas Haas, Dr. Roger Bowers, Sherie Lyon, Ann and the staff of St. Elizabeth's Special Care Unit, and most recently the 3 West and Critical Care staff at St. Luke's Hospital.
