James A. “Jim” Aversa, 47, of State Route 168, Mohawk, a Frankfort native, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, June 6, 2008, in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born on September 13, 1960, in Ilion, son of the late Patsy Aversa, who operated Aversa Dry Cleaning of Frankfort, and Kathleen “Kay” Aversa, who currently resides in Frankfort. Jim graduated from Frankfort High School, class of 1979. On October 5, 1984, he was united in Holy Matrimony with the former Christine Bunce in Ilion. For over 30 years, Jim was employed with Time Warner Cable, Ilion, where he gained the respect of his fellow workers and customers. Jim’s work qualities made him well-suited to his position with Time Warner. He grew up attending Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, later attending Annunciation Church, Ilion.
Jim was a friendly man whose personality made him a wonderful friend and companion. As a family-oriented man who truly enjoyed his loved ones, he was a good and exemplary husband and father who took his responsibilities very seriously and lived up to them successfully. He cherished the many close and valued relationships he maintained in his professional and family circle. Jim loved the outdoors and hunting and four-wheeling, but especially the times he spent at the family camp in Otter Lake. He also treasured the time spent with his beloved canine companions.
Survivors include his beloved family who will miss him dearly; his wife, Christine; his mother, Kay, of Frankfort; a son, Justin Aversa, of Mohawk; and a daughter, Brittany Aversa, of Mohawk; three brothers, Mark Aversa, of Frankfort, Michael Aversa and fiancé, Monica, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Patrick Aversa and wife, Beth, of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Colleen Vivirito and husband, Sam, of Frankfort; his “best man” and long-time friend, Tom LaPuma and wife, Kay, who was like Jim’s “second dad;” in-laws, Stewart Bunce, of Mohawk, and Sylvia Bunce, also of Mohawk; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to memorial calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home of Frankfort, 4309 Acme Rd., 894-8000, on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. A celebration of Jim’s life will commence in the chapel of the funeral home at the conclusion of visitation (7 p.m.) on Wednesday evening with Father Alfred A. Lamanna, pastor emeritus, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Daniel J. Enea, funeral director, is honored to serve the Aversa family. To offer an online note of condolence to the family, please go to www.eneafamily.com on the Internet.
