Theresa R. Dedicke, 85, formerly of Platform Road, died on Jan. 10, 2013, at Folts Homea, Herkimer, where she had resided since last November.
Mrs. Dedicke was born on April 15, 1927, in Utica, a daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Marthage) Celani. She received her education from Utica achools. On Sept. 5, 1953, she was united in marriage with Arnold N. Dedicke at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Utica. Theresa was first employed at General Electric and Bendix Aviation, both formerly of Utica. She later worked as a cafeteria and kindergarten aide at West Canada Valley Central School and also volunteered with the foster grandparent program at the school. Arnold preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2008. She enjoyed all types of artwork, painting and quilting. Mrs. Dedicke was a member of St. John’s Church, Newport.
Survivors include four sons, Albert Dedicke, of Rochester, David Dedicke, of Cedarville, John Dedicke and his wife, Mary Lee, of Newport, and Michael Dedicke and his wife, Mary Elise, of Scotia; six grandchildren, Amanda Dedicke, Karen (Jonathan) Hopsicker and Alex, Heather, Alison and Eric Dedicke; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Florence Grose, of Dolgeville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four sisters, Marie Scire, Alice Scarafile, Rose Mastrangelo and Delores Imundo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John’s Church, Newport, on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Quy N. Vo, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Newport. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport, will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Folts Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
