The three-time Olympic gold medalist will be honored Friday when the main walkway into the stadium in her hometown of Rochester is renamed “Wambach Way.”

The public is invited to the 10 a.m. dedication at Sahlen’s Stadium and can stay for team practice at 11:30 ahead of its Saturday friendly match against Costa Rica. It will be the first match for the team that won gold in London, beating Japan 2-1 in the clincher.

The 32-year-old Wambach has been a mainstay of the women’s team since joining in 2001.
