A Little Falls man faces multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase through two counties.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy was pulled over on the town line between Fonda and Mohawk facing north when a vehicle headed south on state Highway 30A moved into the oncoming lane as it passed him doing 80 mph.
Deputies said the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Kyle Edick, of 20 Ford Lane, Little Falls, allegedly sped through several red lights before crossing into Herkimer County, where Little Falls police and state police picked up the pursuit. Police stopped the pursuit after learning the suspect’s identity and later contacted him by phone, prompting him to turn himself in to Little Falls police, who then turned him over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said.
Edick, who is on parole, was charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment, misdemeanor third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, misdemeanor reckless operation and numerous traffic violations, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Mohawk Town Court and was sent to Montgomery County jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond, deputies said.
