Stephen Canipe on Wednesday was declared the winner of the village justice’s Republican primary election, according to Herkimer County Republican Party officials.
A total of 108 Ilion residents voted in the primary, Chairwoman Sylvia Rowan said, in an election that declared Canipe the winner against Fred Hartman.
Rowan would not release the number of votes for each candidate and asked that a FOIL request be made. “It’s such a large margin that I don’t want to embarrass anybody,” she said.
