Holding a 12-5 majority in the Herkimer County Legislature prior to Tuesday’s election, Republicans Kurt Ackerman and Stephen Keblish helped their party pick up two additional seats by ousting their Democratic opponents.
While the results from the Nov. 3 vote are not yet official, Keblish is an apparent winner over Joseph Chilelli in the Third District, by a vote of 402-350, and Ackerman is an apparent winner over Daniel Carter in the Twelfth District, by a vote of 389-292.
Republicans John Piseck Jr., Jean Maneen, Jeffrey Stone, Dennis Korce and Bruce Weakley won their re-election bids, as did Democrats Helen Rose, John Brezinski and Bernard Peplinski, Sr. As a result, the GOP’s majority in the legislature has grown to 14-3.
Republicans Leonard Hendrix, Robert Hyde, Peter Manno, Raymond Smith, Vincent Bono, Patrick Russell and Frederick Shaw, Jr. were unopposed Tuesday.
