Mohawk, N.Y. —
A plaque recognizing the five Medal of Honor recipients from Herkimer County will be unveiled Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the park on Mary Street, next to the Herkimer County Office Building in the village of Herkimer. The members of the Fallen Stars Memorial Committee invite all veterans and members of the general public to join in the dedication.
The plaque dedication will include a ceremony with guest speakers, color guards, a bagpiper, a 21-gun salute, the playing of Taps and the unveiling of the plaque.
The members of the Fallen Stars Memorial Committee met Wednesday and thanked everyone who helped make the project a success, including the Mohawk American Legion, the Herkimer County Hunger Coalition and the Herkimer County Veterans Administration.
