New York State Police Troops T and D are investigating a hit and run motor vehicle accident that took the life of a 21-year-old Albany woman early Saturday morning.
According to sate police, Jamie B. Klemczak had been involved in a minor, one-car accident eastbound on the Thruway and had exited her vehicle. Klemczak, according to police, then attempted to cross the westbound lanes and at 4:30 a.m. was struck by a passing vehicle.
The investigation has determined that the passing vehicle was possibly a silver Toyota, but the model is unknown. The vehicle should have front-end, driver-side damage, said police.
The westbound lanes were closed between Exits 29A and 30 Saturday morning, and traffic was moved to the shoulder. The accident was cleared and the lanes were reopened at about 9:45 a.m.
