Bernie Brandow, harbor master at the St. Johnsville Marina, said that the new docks ordered are in and installed.
He said the new docks in place allow more space in that area.
“Now, what do I do with the old ones?” he asked the village board of trustees Monday. “It will cost money to destroy them, but can we give them away?”
Trustees and Marina Committee members Cathy Rice and James Castrucci agreed with the idea.
“Rather than spend money to get rid them, a few people said they were interested,” Brandow said.
According to Castrucci several area residents had expressed an interest in re-using the old docks from the marina. “I know members of snowmobile clubs that would use them for bridges, and I know someone who’d like to use some of the docks for a deck they’re building,” he said.
Village Attorney Norman Mastromoro was consulted about any liability involved in giving away the docks.
“I think that as long as we give away the docks in ‘as is’ condition, releasing liability, that would be all right,” he said.
