Little Falls, N.Y. -

The City of Little Falls and the Little Falls Police Department honored three of their employees Tuesday for their dedicated service to the city, its families and its children. School crossing guards Jodi Feane (seated), Tony Federico (right) and Tom Finnegan (second from left) received certificates of appreciation at a breakfast held at Ann Street Deli. In addition to honoring the trio, Chief of Police Michael Masi (left) announced that his department is launching a new initiative to create a pool of substitute crossing guards who would work on an as needed basis. “Police officers currently cover for our crossing guards when they are not available, but that does present some problems as an officer could be called away due to an emergency, or could be involved in a previous call that would make him or her unavailable for crossing duty,” said Masi. “By having a pool of alternate or substitute crossing guards in place we could avoid those situations and provide better service to our community.” The chief added that the department will begin to advertise for crossing guards in the near future, and that interested parties should apply. “Crossing guards are an important part of the community, because they work to keep our children safe,” he said. “That is why we chose to honor Jodi, Tony and Tom, because they have dedicated themselves to making a difference in the community.” Also pictured is Little Falls Mayor Bob Peters.
