Little Falls, N.Y. -

Building on the success of last year’s program, the Little Falls Call Firefighters Association will again seek to send care packages to Little Falls High School graduates and city residents, as well as individuals living in the surrounding area, serving in the nation’s armed forces.
To that end, the call firefighters are asking families with someone serving overseas in Afghanistan or Iraq, deployed to another foreign country or stationed across the United States to contact them so that their son or daughter, brother or sister, niece or nephew or any other relation can be added to the list. It is the association’s hope that the care packages be mailed to the soldiers in time for the holidays.
“We are hoping to collect as many names as possible,” call firefighter Chad Malley, a veteran who served in Iraq, said. “We are starting this effort a little earlier this year with the hopes that even more families will come forward so we can provide their soldier with a gift from home.”
To have a loved one added to the list, call Malley at 534-0113.
“I know how important it is to receive a package from home, so any little thing that we can do to honor or pay tribute to our men and women serving our country is worthwhile,” said Malley. “Care packages are a way to boost morale and show our appreciation for all they are doing.”
The association is not sure what the packages will contain, or what items they will need to collect, as that is the next step in the process.
“Right now we are in the stages of collecting names and gathering information. After that we will start work on the packages,” said Malley.
