Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses owner and hybridizer Paul Sorano will appear on Tuesday morning’s edition of The Martha Stewart Show on Hallmark Channel.
The program will air at 10 a.m. and Sorano’s segment will be near the end of the hour long show.
“It went very, very quick,” Sorano said about his in-studio appearance. “I think the whole interview was for only five minutes. It was like a whirlwind. It went by so fast.”
Sorano said the segment will showcase the African violets grown at his greenhouse in Dolgeville.
“There wasn’t a lot of time to get into all the details, but I think I did a good job talking about our violets and about our greenhouse,” he said Friday afternoon. “I even got a Dolgeville mention in.”
Sorano previously appeared on The Martha Stewart Show in 2000.
“That experience was a lot different. The studio for that appearance was in rural Connecticut, while the studio for this appearance is in New York City. There is a big difference driving in rural Connecticut than in downtown Manhattan. I’m lucky I had my GPS with me,” he said with a laugh, adding his experience on the show was positive. “The show put me up in a hotel and treated me well when I was at the studio. It was a good opportunity to showcase my business and our African violets.”
Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses ships its violets, gesneriads and companion plants worldwide.
“Our Internet business is doing well,” said Sorano. “We ship orders around the planet, including  to countries like Russia, China, Japan and England. Our violets have a following across the globe.”
Locally, Hallmark Channel can be found on Time Warner Cable channel 21.
