The top students of the class of 2009 at Dolgeville Central School have been announced.
Valedictorian Ann Locke is the daughter of Rudy and Roberta Locke of Stratford.
Locke served as secretary for the National Junior Honor Society and currently serves as secretary for the National Senior Honor Society. She also serves as a community service representative for the student council. Locke has been an active participant in Dolgeville’s music program as a cast member and prompter for the high school musical theater productions, and as a member of the senior high chorus and jazz choir.
She has also been a member of the school’s basketball cheerleading team and has been listed in Who’s Who Among American High School Cheerleading for her efforts. A recipient of the Miss Teen New York Scholarship, Locke has held the positions of captain and treasurer for Dolgeville’s color guard squad. She has also been a member of the high school quiz team, president of Students Against Destructive Decisions, vice president of the Rotary Interact Club and secretary for the Spanish club.
Locke plans to attend Wells College in the fall to study pre-law.
Salutatorian Alexander Marshall is the son of Debra Marshall of Dolgeville.
Active in Dolgeville’s sports programs, Marshall has participated in varsity wrestling, track and soccer, and has been a captain for each of these teams. He has also played an important role in the school’s music program, having acted in four musical theater productions and participated in high school chorus, high school band and All-County Chorus for several years.
As a member of National Honor Society, Marshall has held the office of vice president. He has also been a member of and served as vice president for student council. A recipient of the Clarkson Leadership Award, Marshal has received of the Athletic “D” Award and the Academic “D” Award for the last four years for athletic and academic achievements. He has remained on the principal’s list for all four years of high school.
Marshall plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall, majoring in computer engineering.
Austin Litwhiler is the son of Joanne D’auria of Salisbury Center.
Litwhiler has held the position of vice president for the Rotary Interact Club during his junior and senior years. He has also been a member of this year’s high school quiz team, has been on the principal’s list and has received the Academic “D” Award for his academic accomplishments.
Litwhiler plans to attend SUNY Albany in the fall to where he will study chemistry.
Elizabeth Amthor is the daughter of the Theresa Amthor and the late William Amthor of Stratford.
Amthor has been an active member of Dolgeville’s music program, participating in the high school musical theater productions, senior choir, jazz choir and All-County. She has also served as the community representative for student council, and serves as treasurer for the National Senior Honor Society and the senior class. In addition, she has served as a Big Sister through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program and as a Sunday School teacher for her church. She has also received the honor of being named Student of the Month.
Amthor plans to attend Houghton College in the fall where she will study elementary and special education.
Clay Ardoin is the son Lori Broat of Dolgeville and Robert Ardoin.
A stand-out athlete at Dolgeville, Ardoin has been a member of the football, basketball and track and field teams, serving as a captain of the football and basketball teams. He has achieved the status of All-League, All-Mohawk Valley and All-State, as well as being listed in the National Football Hall of Fame for Scholar Athletes. Ardoin has also been an active participant in Dolgeville’s music program, acting in the annual musical theater productions and playing in the drum corps. He is a member of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church and this year he has served as a Big Brother through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. He is also a member of the National Senior Honor Society.
Ardoin plans to attend Ithaca College where he will major in physical therapy.
Erin Patrick is the daughter of Richard and Patricia Patrick of Dolgeville.
Active in Dolgeville’s sports program as a member of the soccer, volleyball, track and basketball teams, Patrick earned varsity letters for track, soccer and basketball. She has also served as a Big Sister through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program for the last three years.
An active member of her church youth group, Patrick is serving her fourth year as secretary for the Conference Council on Youth Ministries. She received the God and Country Award and also participated in the 30-hour famine.
For the past four years, Patrick has been the treasurer for the school’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America. She has been a stand-out musician at Dolgeville Central School, serving as section leader for the senior concert and marching bands, stage band and the percussion ensemble. She has also been an active participant of the jazz choir and senior high chorus, and has been selected for All-County Band. She has been a cast member of Dolgeville’s musical theater productions for the last three years, and has used her musical ability outside of school by playing trumpet in the Dolgeville Community Band. Academically, Patrick has earned the Academic “D” Award and also received the Clarkson Leadership Award. She was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and is currently a member of the National Senior Honor Society.
Patrick plans to attend Nazareth College where she will study psychology.
Arthur Mayhew is the son the Arthur and Brenda Mayhew of Dolgeville.
Mayhew has been an active participant of the senior band and the drum corps. He was the recipient of the Xerox Scholarship Award for the University of Rochester. Mayhew was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and is currently a member of the National Senior Honor Society. He has received the honor of Student of the Month twice during the last four years.
Mayhew plans to attend Mohawk Valley Community College in the fall where he will study mechanical engineering.
Alissa Kent is the daughter of William Kent and Ellen Bennett of Dolgeville.
Kent has served as secretary of the National Junior Honor Society and is currently a member of the National Senior Honor Society. She is a founding member of Dolgeville’s Rotary Interact Club and currently serves as its president. She has been a Big Sister through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program the last four years. An active participant of the high school music program, Kent has participated in high school musical theatrical productions the past two years and has also been a member of the jazz choir. She has been selected to participate in All-County Choir the past four years. Kent has also been a member of the art club and the high school quiz team. She received the Academic “D” Award for her academic achievement for all four years of high school.
Kent plans to attend Wells College with a major in environmental studies.
Jared Pollard is the son of William and Cynthia Pollard of Stratford.
Pollard has been an active participant in Dolgeville’s sports program, participating as a member of the football and track and field teams throughout high school. Most recently, he held the position of captain for the track and field team. Pollard received the Scholar Athlete Award for three of his high school years. Currently a member of the National Senior Honor Society, he serves as secretary, and he is also a member of the student council. He has also served as a Big Brother through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. An active participant in Boy Scouts of America, Pollard has held the positions of patrol leader, troop guide and instructor. He has attained the distinguished recognition of Eagle Scout, as well as the Bronze and Gold Palm awards. He was the recipient of the University or Rochester’s Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award.
In the fall, Pollard plans to attend Clarkson University to pursue his intended major of civil engineering.
Tia Mosher is the daughter of Brayton and Cindy Mosher of Dolgeville.
Throughout high school, Mosher has served in many leadership capacities. She has been president of her sophomore, junior and senior classes, and has also held the office of president for the student council and National Senior Honor Society. Mosher has been a Big Sister through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program the last three years of high school. She participated in high school musical theater productions in her sophomore, junior and senior years, and has also participated in the Relay for Life the last four years.
In the fall, Mosher plans to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology to major in psychology.
Noralina Fleury is the daughter of Noralina Fleury of Stratford.
A member of the National Senior Honor Society, Fleury has served as a Big Sister through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program. She is also a member of the Rotary Interact Club. During her junior and senior years, Fleury has been on the principal’s list and has received the Academic “D” award for her academic accomplishments.
In the fall, Fleury plans to attend Fulton-Montgomery Community College where she will major in general and liberal arts studies.
Chelsie Petras is the daughter of Jason and Patricia Petras of Dolgeville.
Active in Dolgeville’s sport programs, Petras held the position of captain for the soccer and track teams. As a member of the volleyball team, she received a Center State All-Star Honorable Mention. In track, she received the recognition of Center State All-Star.
Petras has served as a Big Sister through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program the last two years. She has assumed numerous leadership roles throughout high school, serving as vice president for student council, the freshman class and the sophomore class. She is currently the sergeant-at-arms for the senior class, and she is also a member of the National Senior Honor Society.
In the fall, Petras plans to attend Utica College where she will study communications and journalism.
