2010 Pet Calendar Contest finalists named

The 24 finalists in the 2010 Newspapers In Education Pet Calendar Contest have been named.
The finalists were selected from 81 entries by staff of The Evening Times, and will now battle it out to see who will be named “Pet of the Year.” The winning pet will be featured on the cover of the 2010 pet calendar, while the next 12 pets will be included in a month of the calendar.
The finalists in random order are Ellie, entered by Stephanie Young of Little Falls; Midnight, entered by Amy Delaney of Little Falls; Layla, entered by Renee Coonradt of Dolgeville; Beaner, entered by Jolene Konik of Little Falls; Kalani and Penny, both entered by Anne Ciani of Little Falls; Candie and Fuzzy, both entered by Kristin Hohall of Salisbury Center; Katanina, entered by Patricia Talaba of Mohawk; Andre, entered by Katie Robarge of Little Falls; Dodger and Charger, entered by Ron and Lisa Urich of Little Falls; Bones, entered by Gina Ciani of Amsterdam; Mick, entered by Lynn Roorda and Brian Dodge of Little Falls; Ireland, entered by Kelly Johnson of St. Johnsville; Lizzie, entered by David Nobile of Little Falls; Dozer, entered by Melissa Hubbard of Little Falls; Shayna and Oakley, entered by Lindsey Ardoin of Dolgeville; Getty, entered by Beverly and Ray Becker of Dolgeville; Sadie, entered by Stephanie Young of Little Falls; Zeus, entered by Shelley and Mark Smith of Little Falls; Roscoe P. Gravy Train, entered by Mark Rice of St. Johnsville; Harley, entered by Carol Leon of Little Falls; Captain Morgan, entered by Rick Mosher of Little Falls; and Lola, entered by Chuck and Sue Heron of Little Falls.
Votes will be accepted until noon on Monday, Nov. 30, and are 10 cents each.
Votes with the accompanying coupon may be mailed to NIE 2010 Pet Calendar, The Evening Times, P.O. Box 551, Herkimer, NY 13350. Donations and coupons will also be accepted at The Evening Telegram building at 111 Green St., Herkimer.
The money collected for the votes will support The Evening Times’ Newspaper in Education program, which provides the Times to classrooms in the Little Falls, Dolgeville, Oppenheim-Ephratah and St. Johnsville school districts on a weekly basis throughout the year.
The finalists’ pictures will appear in The Evening Times on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and the vote tally will appear in the newspaper on Tuesday and Saturday.
