Magician and illusionist Leon Etienne wrapped up the summer reading program at the Little Falls Public Library Thursday afternoon by performing and teaching magic tricks during an hour-long show.
“My mother had grounded me and sent me to my room where I quickly became bored. I came across a book of magic tricks that I had received as a gift, but put aside because I was more interested in playing with my fire trucks. I sat down, began reading the book and taught myself a magic trick,” Etienne said as he shared where his interest in the art of magic began. “I left my room and told my mother I have a magic trick to show you. And do you know how I knew that it was a good trick and that it worked? After I finished I was able to run out the door and play with my friends.”
Etienne said while magic drew his interest as a child, the library is full of books on any topic imaginable. “Magic did it for me, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be everyone’s passion. The library is a great place to learn about everything and anything. And once you find your passion, you will want to read and learn more about it,” he told the children gathered in the library’s conference room.
In addition to Etienne’s magic show, Thursday’s program included the presentation of awards and certificates.
