Joshua Rockwell, who was involved in an April 25 one-car accident on Route 5 in the town of Little Falls, has died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. The Dolgeville resident was 26 years old and is survived by two children, Lesa and Clifford Rockwell, both of Dolgeville.
A Dolgeville Central School graduate, he was employed by Rick Barnes Tree Service in Dolgeville.
He was a member of the Salisbury Ridgerunners and the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club.
He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Dolly and Ronald Barnes, of Dolgeville.
According to police, Rockwell lost control of his vehicle while traveling eastbound on Route 5, traveling across the opposite lane of traffic and off the north shoulder, overturning numerous times before ejecting him from the vehicle. He was initially transported to Little Falls Hospital and was later airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Police said excessive speed was a factor in the accident, and that use of a seat belt would likely have reduced the extent of his injuries.
