Herkimer, N.Y. —
Herkimer police arrested a local resident at his home early Thursday morning for allegedly selling heroin.
Police charged Benjamin A. Janes, 27, of 211 Green St., Herkimer, with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony. Police said the arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation involving an increase in the distribution of heroin in the village.
Janes was arraigned in village court and was committed to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond, police said.
Herkimer police were assisted in the investigation by the Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office.
Additional arrests are pending, police said.
