Mohawk, N.Y. —
The Mohawk Fire Department responded to an accident that occurred on the New York State Thruway Monday night.
Chief Dan Mabbett said the department received the call at 7:31 p.m. alerting them a tractor trailer went over an embankment between the Herkimer and Little Falls exits in the town of German Flatts.
He said firefighters arrived on scene 10 minutes after receiving the call to assist the Alyne Trucking Company tractor trailer.
According to Mabbett, the truck was empty and there were no hazardous materials at the scene.
The driver was transported to the hospital by MOVAC for minor back injuries, he said.
Roosevelt’s Towing, of Canajoharie, pulled the tractor trailer out from the embankment.
State police were also on the scene.
“The tractor itself sustained minimum damage, but the trailer was fine,” said Mabbett.
There has been no update on the driver’s condition since the accident.
