A Herkimer County man was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison Wednesday after previously pleading guilty to knowingly manufacturing more than 1,000 marijuana plants, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Corey Leitz, 42, of Frankfort, was sentenced to 151 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release, a news release stated. Leitz also must pay a $100 special assessment.
As part of the plea deal, Leitz admitted to growing marijuana in a barn on McIntyre Road in Frankfort. According to the release, he had successfully grown 3,200 plants by December 2011 and sold the marijuana to numerous customers in Herkimer County and elsewhere.
The conviction was also Letiz’s second felony drug conviction in Herkimer County, with the first being in 1998, the release stated.
