Herkimer Police
May 13
•Five people who were involved in several larcenies from the Fastrac Store on West State Street, Herkimer, were arrested for petit larceny. The Herkimer Police Department was contacted on May 12 after officials at the store noticed a large amount of losses which occurred between November 2007 and May 8, 2008. During the investigation several surveillance tapes were reviewed by Fastrac officials and police. A person identified in the video was a clerk who worked the overnight shift at the store. Police said the clerk, Russell S. Hines, 22, of Ilion, would allow several of his friends, some with whom he lived with, to take merchandise from the store without paying for the goods. In some cases, police said, these friends would bring items to the counter, pay for one item and then Hines would bag the rest without ringing them through the register.
Hines was charged with five counts of petit larceny and was arraigned before Judge Philip O’Donnell in Herkimer Village Court. He was remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail or $2,500 bail bond.
Arrested on one count each of petit larceny were Dawn M. Clarke, 36, of Herkimer; Lisa A. Arcuri, 35, of Herkimer; Tami L. Sterling, 31, of Herkimer; and Sondra L. Hysack, 38, of Herkimer. All four women were released on appearance tickets returnable to Herkimer Village Court.
Police and Fastrac officials are continuing the investigation, as losses are in excess of $15,000.
