UTICA, N.Y. —
Numerous men, including two from Herkimer and one from Frankfort, have been charged following an undercover operation at Roscoe Conkling Park in South Utica that was triggered by numerous complaints of men engaging in sexual acts, city police said.
It was reported that the men would meet each other for the purposes of engaging in sexual acts on themselves and each other. They would also accost people passing by, often times propositioning them while exposing themselves, police said.
When officers checked this area, they found several discarded items used during the acts as well as blankets, clothing and undergarments.
As a result, the police Special Operations Unit conducted an investigation utilizing an undercover officer.
The officer walked the area of the park and was approached numerous times by men, who would then expose themselves and masturbate, police said.
On several occasions, a suspect would allegedly grab the officer in a sexual manner while propositioning him.
These crimes occurred on the roadway, trails, and woods in the park, which is well traveled by vehicles, walkers and runners.
