An Ilion man has been accused of forgery in connection with applying for an automotive dealer’s license, Ilion police said.
Todd Gookins, 41, of South Fourth Avenue, was charged with felony possession of a forged instrument, felony falsifying business records and felony offering a false instrument for filing.
Authorities said Gookins, through the use of another person, applied for the license with an application that had a forged document attached to it stating the village of Ilion authorized zoning permissions, police said. It was the mayor's signature that Gookins allegedly forged.
Gookins was arraigned in the town of German Flatts Court and sent to the Herkimer County jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond.
