Ilion man arrested on robbery charge

An Ilion man was arrested in connection with a robbery on Jan. 5 at Fastrac Market on West Main Street in the village, according to Mohawk police.
Police responded to a call of a robbery at Fastrac at approximately 4 a.m. Saturday.
While no weapon was displayed, the subject physically forced the cashier to open the register and give him money, police said.
After an investigation, police arrested Matthew Mowers, 28, of Ilion, on charges of third-degree robbery and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
Mowers was arraigned and committed to the Herkimer County jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $40,000 bail bond, police.
All of the money taken during the robbery was recovered, police said.
The Herkimer Police Department assisted in the investigation.
