Town of Russia, N.Y. —
Rescue crews Wednesday morning were called to the area of Gravesville Road in the town of Russia at about 10 a.m. for a report of a man struck in the head by a tree.
The man reportedly suffered head, chest and ankle injuries as a result, and required an off-road rescue as he was about 400 feet into the woods at the time.
A helicopter also was called to the scene for a medical airlift.
Kuyahoora Ambulance, firefighters from Poland and Newport and state police assisted.
