Rescue crews Wednesday morning were called to the area of Gravesville Road in the town of Russia at about 10 a.m. for a report of a man struck in the head by a tree.
The man reportedly suffered head, chest and ankle injuries as a result, and required an off-road rescue as he was about 400 feet into the woods at the time.

The conviction stems from two incidents at America’s Best Hotel — on North Washington Street in Herkimer — on Jan. 14 and 16, 2011, where he sold crack cocaine out of room No. 17. He was indicted on April 29, 2011.
State police are investigating a fatal one-car accident on State Route 28.
On April 16, at about 5:15 p.m., troopers responded to the scene of the accident just north of Jordanville Road. The investigation revealed that a 2004 Chevrolet 2DS was northbound on Route 28 when the driver apparently lost control and crossed the roadway, exiting the west shoulder.
An Ilion man was charged with criminal trespass Sunday after Herkimer police found him in the area of a business that had been broken into, police said.
Officers located 22-year-old Shane Rakentine and another man after responding to an alarm and finding the door and window of the business unsecured, police said.
