Assembly candidate Brian Maher made a stop in the Town of German Flatts during his bicycle tour campaign kick-off.

On April 30, Maher started traveling from Orange County, Village of Maybrook by bike across the newly created 101st District for a seven day bicycle tour that will end in New Hartford on May 6. Maher’s tour includes riding through seven different counties including Herkimer and Oneida Counties.

While riding through the Town of German Flatts, during day 6 of hi bike tour, Maher hit mile marker 219 of his 250 mile journey. Throughout the tour Maher said, he travels about 30 miles per day. “This trip has been very inspiring, I’ve seen some beautiful sites, met some real and amazing people, and I’m really enjoying the ride.”

Maher said, his 2012 campaign focuses on what brings people together. “By starting my campaign off with a bike tour I can find out the issues people are facing and what I can do to help. People tend to feel disfranchised in the political world and by taking the time to get to know the people within the district, I can educate and show them who I am as a candidate.”

Sunday will be the last day of Maher’s bike tour. A rally will be held in new Hartford to celebrate the start of his campaign and his week long bike tour of the district.

Maher is currently the Mayor of the Village of Walden in Orange County and looking forward to represent the 101st District as he run’s for New York Assembly in November for the General Election.
