The Fallen Stars Committee is inviting the public to a pair of events and the first is scheduled for this Saturday.
This Saturday, Nov. 24, the duo of As/Is, made up of Dale Edwards and his son Brenden, will play from 8 p.m. until midnight at the Mohawk American Legion.
A $5 donation will be requested at the door. Proceeds from the event will go to the Gram Lorraine Christmas Children’s Clothing Program, according to Rich Monahan, of the Fallen Stars Memorial Committee. He said some of the funds will also be utilized to offset costs to update the Fallen Stars murals and travel expenses. He said to date the murals have traveled nearly 9,000 miles to various locations throughout the state.
Most recently, the murals were displayed at Edmeston High School, the Syracuse Veterans Administration Behavioral Health Center, the New York State Retired Teachers Association at the Otesaga in Cooperstown, the New York State Fair and the Schenevus AMVETS Club.
Any organization which would like to have the mural on display may contact the Mohawk American Legion at 866-4870 for information.
The committee will sponsor a Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. featuring the Steve Falvo Easy Money Big Band. The band played at Herkimer County Community College last year for a concert honoring Korean War era veterans. This year’s concert will honor World War II veterans and is tentatively scheduled to take place at HCCC.
