Little Falls, N.Y. —
The Herkimer County Historical Society conducted its second annual celebrity breakfast fundraiser, “Hot Cakes With The Historical Society,” at the Knights Inn on Thursday.
The breakfast featured 24 local celebrity servers, including head server John Scarano, executive director of the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce, who served breakfast as Uncle Sam.
The local celebrities were encouraged by Scarano to dress in costume to add to the fun, which many did. Retired Dolgeville football coach Jerry Walczak dressed in costume as a Dolgeville football player and was accompanied by two cheerleaders who assisted him as he served breakfast.
“The breakfast has been a lot of fun and I’ve been able to see a bunch of people I haven’t seen in a while,” the coach of 37 years said on Thursday morning.
Herkimer County Historical Society Executive Director Susan Perkins said, “The breakfast has been wonderful and it’s definitely a big success for the historical society.”
“The breakfast is organized, upbeat and overall a well-rounded event,” said guest Matt Powers.
Carol Hopson, of the Herkimer County Historical Society, added on Thursday morning, “Were having lot’s of fun and it turned out to be a record crowd.”
Altogether breakfast was served to an estimated 150 people. To help raise funds there were also raffles, including a raffle for a signed Syracuse University football. The historical society raised $266 from the football raffle alone. Guests were also encouraged to give tips to the servers to raise funds.
Little Falls Mayor Robert Peters said, “The Knights Inn is an ideal spot for the breakfast and it’s been a great turnout for the historical society.”
Proceeds made from the breakfast will benefit the operations of the county historical society.
