TOTAL RECALL

Paul Veerhoven’s sci-fi classic receives a needless remake courtesy of middling director Len Wiseman (“Resident Evil”) and his wife, Kate Beckinsale, who joins Colin Farrell (a weak substitute for Arnold Schwarze-negger) to rehash a dystoptian tale about a factory worker who becomes a hunted man.

THE DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS

The third movie based on Jeff Kinney’s popular children’s books finds series hero Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) spending his summer working at a country club with predictably disastrous results.

RUBY SPARKS

Zoe Kazan (“Revolutionary Road”) wrote and stars in this offbeat romantic comedy about a writer’s fictional dream girl coming to life and responding to his every command. Directed by the same husband-wife team that also brought you “Little Miss Sunshine.” Kazan’s real-life partner, Paul Dano, co-stars as the befuddled author.

EASY MONEY

Stephen Holder, of the recently canceled series “The Killing,” stars as a poor boy who insinuates himself among the Swedish elite.

RED LIGHTS

The decline of Robert De Niro continues with this cheesy supernatural “thriller” in which the former great plays a psychic who may be trying to kill his former colleague (Sigourney Weaver), an expert in exploring the paranormal.

AI WEIWEI: NEVER SORRY

First-time director Alison Klayman profiles famed Chinese artist/dissident Ai Weiwei (co-designer of Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium), who vanished for three months while in police custody last year.

THE BABYMAKERS

Paul Schneider plays a sterile guy who conspires with his friends to rob a sperm bank so he can get his wife (Olivia Munn) pregnant.
