1. Friday sees the opening of two more big summer movies: “Total Recall,” a PG-13 remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, this time starring Colin Farrell; and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days,” rated PG.

2. The London Olympics are taking place all weekend. Events will be on NBC channels, and also online at http://www.nbcolympics.com. A host of sports will be in action this weekend – check out a schedule of Olympic events here.

3. Saturday is National Mustard Day. Some places – such as the Mustard Museum in Middleton, Wisc. – will be having a party to mark the day, so check around. You also could host your own mustard-themed party, complete with a wide variety of samples.

4. Sunday is International Beer Day, a relatively new holiday that’s rapidly gaining in popularity thanks to Facebook and Twitter. Celebrate the day by heading to your favorite pub or by buying your favorite brew. You also could have a beer party and have samples of a wide variety of beers.

5. National Kids’ Day also is Sunday. The day is a version of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, according to http://www.kidspeace.org. Celebrate the day by spending some quality time with your children – take them to the park, to get ice cream, to a movie or whatever you and your kids like to do.
