Photographs used by a business on the internet will reflect your business , organization or brand to potentially hundreds and hundreds of people.   It’s important to put some thought into these pictures and consider the images you will be using to showcase your organization.  Consider what you wish to portray to someone who is considering your business just from what they see about you on the web.  Photographs say so much more than words.   Facebook photos receive more comments and likes than simply posting a status.  We are visual people.

Along with a profile, social media sites allow you the opportunity to tell your story through pictures.  They can be serious, light-hearted or boring.  It’s your choice.

Here are some tips for great photos.

               Make sure your lens is clean.

               Throw out blurry photos.  Tripods are available for smartphones.  This might be a great investment if you intend on taking a lot of pictures with your phone.

               Good exposure is important. Use natural lighting when available and flash in appropriate settings.  The main source of lighting should be behind the subject. 

               When taking pictures of people, have them put their heads together to avoid big spaces between heads.  Those spaces will appear huge when you view the photo.

               Crop photographs to only show your image.  Eliminate unnecessary background images.

               Take more shots than you think you will need.  Be choosy and only pick the best.

               If you are taking a picture of your location, get a clean shot without cars in the forefront.

               Let your feet be your zoom.  In other words, walk to the best position for the picture.
