It’s the 10th International Talk Like a Pirate Day. This unique holiday is said to have begun when two friends, John Baur and Mark Summers, were playing racquetball. One of the players yelled out in pain “Aaarrr” and a new idea was born. This inside joke remained with the friends until John and Mark sent a letter to humor columnist Dave Barry. Barry so liked the idea that he promoted the holiday.
The day is not only a promotion of pirates, but it is a day to forget your woes and struggles. It’s a day to dress up, speak like a pirate and have some fun. Here are some links to help you get in the spirit.
