Like so many Americans, I will never forget where we were the morning of September 11, 2001. We were living in California and were asleep when our 14 year old son came banging into the room saying that the President was on T.V. We jumped out of bed, knowing that it had to be something important. We were never prepared for the sights that filled our TV that day and the days that followed.
On July 11, 2001, our family had just visited the World Trade Center. We saw first the vastness and the larger-than-life site, followed by the site of the 1993 bombing. My children were all intrigued by those events, never expecting to experience something more horrifying a mere two months later.
A generation of children are growing with no independent knowledge of the events of September 11 or the days that followed. Their knowledge is obtained from school textbooks and maybe comes from an occasional news show.

Tomorrow, September 11, 2012, as a country and as a family, we will again watch and remember. Many of us will pray for the victims and the families and show support for this great country we are blessed to call home.
