Who knew eating was a sport?
But it is, at least according to ESPN, which listed the top earners in each "athletic" discipline.
Joey Chestnut makes a veritable mint choking down nauseating amounts of grub. Here's a partial listing of his "world records":
-
Pork ribs: 9.8 pounds pork rib meat in 12 minutes at John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort during the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off in Sparks, Nevada on August 27, 2008.
-
Steak: 4.5 pounds of steak, plus sides, in 8 minutes, 52 seconds at Big Texan Steak Ranch on March 24, 2008.
-
Asparagus: 9 pounds, 5.2 ounces of tempura-fried asparagus at the World Deep Fried Asparagus Eating Championship in Stockton, California, on April 16, 2011.
-
Hot Dogs: 68 hot dog and buns in 10 minutes during the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York on July 4, 2009.
-
Chicken Wings: 241 wings at Wing Bowl XVI in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 1, 2008.

Matzoh Balls: 78 matzoh balls in 8 minutes at Kenny & Ziggy’s New York Delicatessen Restaurant in Houston, Texas on March 2, 2008
The competitive eater earns $218,000 a year to, um, eat.
We're not hatin'. Oh no. That's just a smidge more than our per review paycheck here at the OD.
