Tip of the Week: Prepare ingredients for the week

Dice up enough fresh herbs, tomatoes, onions and garlic for the entire week. Then, store each ingredient separately in the refrigerator to help save time later in the week. You can grill up steaks, assemble quick quesadillas or personalize a freshly tossed salad with those same go-to ingredients for fast, convenient and wholesome meals.

Wise to the Word: tarragon

Narrow, pointed, dark green leaves distinguish this perennial aromatic herb known for its distinctive aniselike flavor. Tarragon is widely used in classic French cooking for a variety of dishes including chicken, fish and vegetables, as well as many sauces. Tarragon is available fresh in the summer and early fall and year-round in dried and powdered forms. Care should be taken when using tarragon since its assertiveness can easily dominate other flavors.
