According to school officials, the three-district merger vote will go ahead as planned Thursday.

“We received word today that the commissioner has denied the application and the merger vote will go ahead as planned,” according to a statement from the office of Ben Ferrara who is representing Herkimer and Ilion school districts.

A petition was filed last week with the state Education Department by Dan Monohan of Mohawk, Grace Osborne of Ilion, and Ronald Edwards of Herkimer to stop the vote.
